Air Superiority Fighter:The McDonnell Douglas (now Boeing) F-15 Eagle is an American twin-engine, all-weather tactical fighter designed by McDonnell Douglas to gain and maintain air superiority in aerial combat. It is among the most successful modern fighters, with over 100 aerial combat victories.34 Following reviews of proposals, the United States Air Force selected McDonnell Douglas’ design in 1967 to meet the service’s need for a dedicated air superiority fighter. The Eagle first flew in July 1972, and entered service in 1976.

Ground Attack Fighter:An attack aircraft (also called a strike aircraft or attack bomber) is tactical military aircraft that has a primary role of attacking targets on the ground or sea, with greater precision than bombers, and which is prepared to encounter stronger low-level air defenses. This class of aircraft is designed mostly for close air support and naval air-to-surface missions, but they are also employed in other missions, for example air interdiction or offensive counter air. In contrast to fighter aircraft, attack aircraft are not necessarily intended for air-to-air combat. However, they are often equipped with air-to-air missiles for self-defense.

Multi-Role Fighter:The General Dynamics (now Lockheed Martin) F-16 Fighting Falcon is a single-engine multirole fighter aircraft originally developed by General Dynamics for the United States Air Force (USAF). Designed as an air superiority day fighter, it evolved into a successful all-weather multirole aircraft. Over 4,500 aircraft have been built since production was approved in 1976. Although no longer being purchased by the U.S. Air Force, improved versions are still being built for export customers. The F-16 has an internal M61 Vulcan cannon and 11 locations for mounting weapons and other mission equipment. The F-16’s official name is “Fighting Falcon”, but “Viper” is commonly used by its pilots, due to a perceived resemblance to a viper snake as well as the Battlestar Galactica Colonial Viper starfighter.
Helicopter Gunship:The Eurocopter EC 725 Caracal (also named Super Cougar) is a long-range tactical transport helicopter developed from the Super Puma/Cougar family for military use. It is a twin-engined aircraft and can carry up to 29 seated troops along with two crew, depending on customer configuration. The helicopter is marketed for troop transport, casualty evacuation, and combat search and rescue duties, and is similar to the civilian EC 225. Typically armed with two rocket pods for engaging ground targets, two squad assault weapons (SAW), and a light cannon.

Tilt Rotor Aircraft:The Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey is an American multi-mission, military, tiltrotor aircraft with both a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL), and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capability. It is designed to combine the functionality of a conventional helicopter with the long-range, high-speed cruise performance of a turboprop aircraft. Typically armed with a nose-mounted minigun and a M2HB heavy machine gun mounted on the rear loading ramp. The Osprey can carry its complement of troops or a single vehicle and a full squad of soldiers.

Unmanned Aerial Combat Vehicle:An unmanned combat air vehicle (UCAV), also known as a combat drone or drone, is an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) that is usually armed. These aircraft have no onboard human pilot. Drones are usually under real-time human control. Equipment necessary for a human pilot are not needed, as the operator runs the vehicle from a remote terminal, resulting in a lower weight and size than a manned aircraft. UAVs typically rely on a single propeller engine and are slower and less maneuverable than manned high performance aircraft. The drone can be armed with either a grenade launcher or a light cannon.

Aircraft Equipment

Afterburners: on a jet aircraft, allows a sudden burst of speed, grants +3 to rolls to escape pursuit or race for 3 rounds.
Chaff/Flares Dispenser System:defensive counter-measure against missiles (once spotted), grants a one-time +3 to Dodge actions in air combat. Availability •
Electronic Countermeasures Pod: prevents radar-guided missiles or IFF interrogators from locking on to your craft, imposing a -3 penalty to rolls to identify or lock on to your aircraft. Availability •••
Radar Warning Receivers: alerts the pilot when a radar signature locks on to the aircraft, grants the Danger Sense merit for spotting missiles.
Stealth Capability: the craft emits a lower radar signature, gaining +4 to Stealth rolls to avoid detection by radar. Availability ••••
Surveillance Pod: allows the craft to record flight data and take pictures of ground or air targets. Availability ••
