1. What is the worst thing you have ever done?:
Jean mainly focused on getting rid of the yakuza’s enemies, but occasionally she’d be sent to do other business for the gang. Sometimes she was sent to collect protection money from certain stores, and one time it was a small convenience store Jean went to often when she was younger. She was fond of the store owner and has hated herself ever since for forcing him to pay the yakuza instead of trying to find another way.
2. What is the worst thing you can imagine yourself doing?:
Jean got a lot of her initial information about the yakuza from watching movies. Even though she learned that much of it was exaggeration upon joining, she was worried that her group might not be above killing someone who is begging for mercy once they lose their usefulness. Since she was one of the specialized hitmen for her gang, Jean thought that, maybe, she’d be the one pulling the trigger in that scenario, and that terrified her.
3. What is the worst thing you can imagine someone else doing?:
Jean’s seen a lot of bad things working for the yakuza – including murder – but every action had a purpose and reason behind it, and the yakuza members themselves were unwaveringly loyal to each other. It was after she witnessed and was a part of that camaraderie that she began thinking that acts against “others” weren’t nearly as bad as acts against someone who had their trust. She can scarcely imagine anyone physically assaulting someone with that level of trust, such as a friend, significant other, or family member (blood-related or not).
4. What have you forgotten?:
When Jean was still just playing at being a gang with her friends, she decided that their rite of initiation should be to eat ten jalapenos without taking a drink of water. The last kid to do this ate all ten peppers, then immediately puked. But what came out wasn’t food; it was a black, slug-like thing that appeared to look at them all before quickly slithering off. Everyone ran away as fast as possible, but when they came back, there was no sign of the slug-thing. They later decided that they had all been delirious from eating so many jalapenos and that the “slug” was really just puke.
5. What is the most traumatic thing that has happened to you?:
Jean was once attempting to kill a target while they were vacationing in the mountains. While lining up her sights from cover in the woods, she heard something coming up to her. Jean took a look, expecting a hiker or forest ranger, and saw instead a bear and her cubs. They were far too close for her to turn the gun on them, so she just stayed as still as possible while they investigated her. Eventually, they moved on, but that wasn’t for at least half an hour, and during that entire time, Jean believed that she was going to die via bear attack.
